Last Friday we went to Mullaghmore. We left the school at half eleven on Friday morning. We got two mini buses one for the boys and one for the girls. It took us about a half an hour to get there. We had a lovely slice of Paula's lemon drizzle and off we went. When we got to the top of the mountain we ate our lunch and took some pictures. John told us a funny story. After we came down we went to Bofey Quinns Pub in Corofin. We had delicious pizza and chips. Afterwards we went to the shop and bought sweets. We then arrived home at about half past five. We really enjoyed our day.
MULLAGHMORE FACTS
The Irish for Mullaghmore is An Mullach Mor and it means " the great summit"
Mullaghmore is 180m tall.
The rocks of Mullaghmore consist of carboniferous limestone a sedimentary rock that was laid down under the sea 350 million years ago.
It's famous for its flora, wildlife and its incredible beauty.
Mullaghmore is a mountain that accommodates the greater part of the Burren National Park framed by the Slieve Rua hills to the east and Clifden Hill to the west.
Plants exist there that would only exist in the either the Mediterranean or the Arctic.
The Burren coastline shows a dramatic and picturesque mixture of stone, beaches and a crystal clear blue Atlantic ocean.
You won’t find any boundary walls or fences in the Burren.
From the top of Mullaghmor you can see Father Ted's house.
Many fossils can be found there and it is a long refreshing walk.
